Dropbox Considerations

  • Onna will collect all files in Dropbox the user has access to. If the file was created & shared via an external organization, the Dropbox user must add the shared folder to their account in order for Onna to collect the folder/files.

  • Permanently deleting a file from Dropbox (without moving it to the Trash folder) will not delete it from Onna due to a limitation in Dropbox's API.

Dropbox Requirements

  • In order to collect from a user, you will need their individual login credentials.

How to Connect and Collect Using Dropbox

To create a new Dropbox collection follow the steps below:

Step 1

Click on ‘Workspaces’ in the main menu (a), then click on the workspace where you’d like to add a new sync (b).

Step 2

Click on the ‘+’ icon in the upper right corner to add a new source

Step 3

Select the Dropbox connector from your list of available connectors.

Step 4

To begin configuring your sync you’ll first name your sync in the ‘Name’ field (a), then click the ‘Configure’ button (b).

Step 5

You’ll then be taken to the Oauth flow where you’ll sign in using either your Google or Apple credentials (if supported by your organization) (a), or your email. If using your email, you’ll enter your email and then click the blue ‘Continue’ button (b).

Step 6

If using your email, you’ll next enter your password (a), then click the blue ‘Login’ button (b).

Step 7

Next, you’ll grant Onna access to your Dropbox account by clicking ‘Allow’.

Step 8

You’ll then be taken back to Onna where you’ll select which folders to sync. You can either select individual folders (a), or click the ‘select all’ button (b) to sync all folders. You can also sync future content by putting a check in the box next to ‘Sync any top level folder created in the future’ (c). Then scroll down to select your sync modes.

Step 9

At the bottom of the screen you’ll set your synchronization mode (a) and your sync start and/or end dates (b). Finally, click the blue ‘Done’ button (c).

Step 10

You’ll now see your new source appear alphabetically in the list of ‘Connected sources’ in your workspace.
