Moving Files to Folders

At times, you may need to move files from one location to another. You can move files that have been copied to a workspace or folder, or files that have been manually uploaded to a folder in Onna.

Info:

Please note that if you want to move files directly from a source sync, you’ll need to copy that file and move it to the new location, you cannot move files directly from a source sync without copying them first.

Step 1:

To begin moving files you’ll navigate to either folders inside a workspace or files inside a workspace.

Step 2:

Next, you’ll:

  1. Select the files you want to move by clicking on the icon directly to the right of the file name

  2. Click on the ellipsis on the right hand side of one of the selected files.

Step 3:

From the dropdown menu that appears you’ll select ‘Move selected to…’

Step 4:

From here, you’ll:

  1. Navigate to the location you want to move files to

  2. Click the blue ‘Move here’ button in the bottom right corner of the menu.

Step 5:

Next you’ll see a pop-up appear asking you to confirm that moving the files to a new location will not maintain inherited permissions. This means that some users who had access to a file before may not have access after you move the file.

To continue moving the selected files, click on the blue arrow in this pop-up.

Step 6:

After confirming you want to move the selected files, you’ll see a small window pop up on your screen. This progress window will tell you where you’re moving your selection to, as well as the progress of moving those files.

Step 7:

Finally, once your files have completed moving you’ll see a new window pop up onto your screen indicating your files were successfully moved.

Important:

While the move is in progress do not make modifications to the source itself (such as deleting it) or make changes to the destination folder. This can cause a disruption in the move process and will result in errors.

As the files are moved they will start to populate within the destination folder. Refreshing the browser and seeing the total number of files increasing in that folder is a good indicator of the moving progress.
