Update | eDiscovery Naming Fields | Reveal Hold integrates with Microsoft Purview eDiscovery to create or manage cases, holds, searches, and review sets, certain special characters (+ - = @ / *) in naming and description fields can cause unexpected behavior. Microsoft Purview may silently strip or replace some of these characters (for example, hyphens may be converted to underscores in hold and search names), leading to mismatches between what users enter in Reveal and what is ultimately created in Purview. In addition to usability and consistency concerns, these characters can also introduce security risks such as CSV/formula injection in exported reports. To address this, Reveal now validates input in the UI and blocks restricted characters at the point of entry, helping ensure consistency between Reveal and Purview and reduce injection-related risks. Existing entities are not retroactively modified. However, users editing legacy records containing restricted characters will be required to update those values before saving. |
