HTML View Deprecation

You may have participated in a recent webinar or seen an announcement from us about the numerous enhancements now available within Reveal’s new document review experience.  These enhancements include faster doc-to-doc navigation speeds, in-document search, faster printing/productions, upgraded redaction capabilities, and annotation tools that are now available.

This upgraded viewer is now the default for review as of the 2024.09 release that occurred in October.  Beginning mid-December, this new viewer experience will be replacing the HTML view.  In addition, you will leverage this new viewer to access text views such as Extracted and OCR.

The new viewer handles PDFs, Spreadsheets, Audio/Video files, and plain text views. To take advantage of this viewer experience today, you can use Reveal’s simple conversion process to convert most document types to PDF. Plain text views (Extracted, OCR) do not require conversion steps and can be used in the new viewer as of 2024.09).

For your convenience, we'll perform a one-time mass conversion to PDF for all projects that have had activity within 30 days prior to the conversion date. This automated conversion process will begin starting in November.  There should be no impact to your current workflows. Tasks will continue as usual without delay or disruption. The only change you may notice is that documents that previously lacked a PDF based native view, will now have this view enabled post conversion. The conversion process will bypass any documents that already have a generated PDF.

Please Note:

There will be no changes to your billing for this conversion or PDF storage.

As the new PDF view becomes the primary review experience, we are planning to deprecate the HTML view and begin displaying text sets in the new viewer on December 15, 2024.  Please see Before and After screenshots below.

Project Creation in Review Manager Deprecation

As part of the next release (2024.11), currently scheduled for the first week of December, we are removing the ability to create projects in Review Manager.  This is being done to further support our deprecation of Review Manager capabilities as we continue to bring the functionality forward into the web interface.  We believe that having this functionality migrated to the web will provide a more seamless and more secure experience for our users.  In addition, this update will remove the need to log into the virtual machines for a basic function like creating a project.  As we continue to move additional capabilities like loading of documents or loading images to the web interface, we expect the need to use the load machines to cease.

Please note that the Project link will still be present in Review Manager. However, when a user clicks the link, they will initially land on the Edit tab.  If the user clicks the New tab option, they will be presented with a pop-up window that states the following:

The ability to create a new project in the Review Manager has been deprecated as part of the 2024.11 release. Please use the Create Project functionality that is present in the Company Admin area in the web interface.

How to Create New Projects via Web Interface

After the December release, users will create new projects by clicking the "Create Project" button, conveniently located on both the landing page and within the Company Admin section of the web interface.

We are sending you this notification to make you aware of these changes as they may have an impact on your current workflows.
