Search Syntax | Generally based on dtSearch rules. Example1: Words entered together are presumed to be a phrase, but common word exclusions could affect results. Example2: Words or names containing characters (e.g., AT&T) are not readily searchable. Example3: Negation - A NOT B is acceptable syntax. Example4: Proximity may be expressed using w/# or /#/ connectors. Example5: Common words contained in a list in Review Manager are not indexed and not searchable. | RQL offers deeper and more efficient options, but does not require knowledge of advanced syntax to be effective. Example1: words entered together require quotation marks to be treated as a phrase in Keyword search, and common words are evaluated searched in context. Phrases may be entered without quotation marks for Concept searches. Example2: words or names containing characters (e.g., "AT&T") are searchable as a phrase if entered between quotation marks. Example3: Negation searches require either AND NOT or OR NOT (e.g., dog AND NOT cat, cat OR NOT canary). Example4: Proximity may only be expressed using w/# connector (e.g., cargo w/3 shipping). Example5: Common words - Reveal 11 uses different Elasticsearch analyzers: instead of using the StopFilter to keep common words from being indexed, the CommonGramsFilter is used instead to support efficient searching of common words. See How to Search Keywords for a full discussion of Reveal 11 Search. |
