Create a Clips Report

Article summary

You can create a report of the clips created in your case using the Reports Explorer.

To create a Clips Report, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the EVIDENCE tab in the left navigation panel.

  1. Open the needed case by double-clicking the case name in the Cases table. Alternatively, you can select the appropriate case name, then click the Open Case button in the ribbon bar above the table.

  1. Open the Reports Explorer.

    If the Reports Explorer is not visible, you can open it using the Explorers dropdown in the TRIAL DIRECTOREVIDENCE Main Menu.

    Click the drop-down arrow and then click Reports.

  1. Select the Clips item in the explorer.

  1. Click the Run Selected Report button in the explorer ribbon bar.

    The Clips Report wizard appears.

  1. Ensure the selected options for the report are correct.

  2. Click Next.

    Continue to select options and click the Next button in the wizard until you arrive at the Summary page.

    On the Summary page, you can review the options you selected for the report. Click the Back button if you need to make any changes.

  1. Click the Preview button.

    The report is generated and appears in the Report Work Area.

    You can use the options in the Report Work Area ribbon bar to perform any of the following actions:

  • Navigate between pages in the report

  • Save the report as a different file type

  • Close the report.
     

 Report Options

The Clips Report contains the following customization options:

Transcripts

You can choose between two options:

  • All Transcripts - Includes clips from all transcripts in the case to the report

  • Selected Transcripts - Includes only clips from transcripts you select to the report

If you choose the Selected Transcripts option, you can choose the transcripts you want to include in the Transcript step in the wizard.

Clips

You can choose between two options:

  • All Clips - Includes all clips of the selected transcripts in the case to the report

  • Selected Clips - Includes only clips you select of the selected transcripts to the report

If you choose the Selected Clips option, you can choose the clips you want to include in the Clip step in the wizard.

Report Type

You can choose the type of report you want by selecting one of the following options:

  • Detailed - This type includes the lines of text that were selected for each segment of a clip

  • Summary - This report only shows the page and line references for each segment of a clip

Include

You can choose to include the following options in the report:

  • Cover Page - If this option is selected, the report will include a cover page

  • Date Footer - If this option is selected, the report will include a date in the footer of the report

  • Designation Information - If this option is selected, the report will include information on designations applied

  • Finalized Only - If selected, the report only includes clips that have been marked as final.

  • Synchronized Exhibits - If selected, the report will include information on synchronized exhibits applied to the clip.

  • Barcode - If selected, the report includes a selected barcode with each clip. Barcodes can be used to scan and quickly call up clips in TRIAL DIRECTOR Presentation. Barcode options include:

    • Code 39

    • Code 128

Report Spacing

You can choose between two options:

  • Single - Single spaces the report text. This will result in fewer pages in the report.

  • Double - Double spaces the report text. This helps make the report easier to read.

Sort By

You can choose to sort the report by the following options:

  • Clip Name - If this option is selected, the report will display the clips in alphanumerical order based on the name of each clip.

  • Date Created - If this option is selected, the report will display the clips in chronological order based on the clips' creation date.

  • Description - If selected, the report will display the clips alphanumerically based on descriptions.

  • First Segment Page:Line - If selected, the report will display the clips in numerical order based on the first page:line reference.

  • Transcript - If this option is selected, the report will display the clips in alphanumerical order based on the respective transcripts.
