Note
This is a first draft for UAT use. Content is subject to change up until the 2025.5 GA date.
Overview of Key Features
Content marked with an asterisk (*) is Feature Flagged.
Alphanumeric Sorting
Alphanumeric range searching is now possible in the Review grid (e.g. documents with a begin number of ABC001).
Users can search ranges of documents, including documents with alphabetical prefixes (e.g. search for documents between ABC001 and ABC109).
It’s now possible to search for documents that are less than, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, and greater than a specific alphanumeric value.
Archives*
Similar to that of Reveal 10’s Archives feature, but more robust and intuitive.
Create an Archive of your previous case data which, once complete, can be downloaded onto your computer as a .tgz file, which significantly decreases storage requirements and expedites file transfers.
The Archives Pane can be found under Company Admin and Project Admin.
Archives can contain the following types of data:
Natives
Images
Text
SQL Database Files
An Archives List is available in the Archives tab, showing all previously created archives. A search bar allows for easy archive retrieval.
Each archive contains key metadata (name, creation date, creator, document count, etc.) to help contextualize each archive.
Install Reveal’s Archive Downloader and Archive Extractor to download and examine the contents of your archives. Download links are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux in an “About Archives” popup.
An access token is needed for each archive, available on the “archive details” pane.
In Overview, users can see the total storage use for archive projects.
For each newly created archive project, users have 30 days to download their .tgz files and delete them from cloud storage. For any archive project that remains in storage after 30 days, users will be charged a storage fee.
Blackout Redactions*
Upon uploading spreadsheets, users no longer need to specify to have their documents flattened. They will now be flattened automatically through Blackout and ready to view in Spreadsheet View.
Users can create redactions under select redaction profiles, which have their own distinct color profiles for easy visual distinction.
In the Document Explorer pane, users can group and view redactions by profile, users or labels.
Images can be redacted, moved or hidden in the case where they cover other cells in the spreadsheet. Moving images will allow the user to see any content within cells behind it. User can also click on the hide/unhid images feature on the tool bar as well.
This doesn’t change the document itself — if a user proceeds to the next document and returns, the images will be in their proper places prior to being moved or hidden.
Users can erase redactions using the “Erase” tool. When erasing redactions, the border around a currently selected cell is blue, and for adding redactions, it’s red. This helps users identify which mode they are currently in.
Toggling the eye icon in the toolbar, users can preview what their redactions would look like burned in.
A “Document History” modal allows users to see their entire redaction history for a single document. Here, users can find the specific action (redaction created, deleted, etc.), who performed the redaction, the cell range, and the date / time the reaction was made.
When downloading or printing a document, users can toggle whether or not redactions are included in the document. By selecting between labels, users, and profiles in the Document View pane, users can choose which redactions will be burnt into the document. In other words, the downloaded file or printed document should burn all redactions visible to the user on their screen.
Body Text Searches
A new checkbox titled “Include Body Text” allows users to search keywords in both metadata fields and a document’s body text in one search. This makes body text searches much easier to perform, rather than needing to make complex search constrictions as in previous versions.
Processing and Early Case Assessment (ECA)
ECA
After processing, documents are now indexed into a new grid, accessible in the processed files tab within processing.
The processed files grid is where all basic QC workflows from Discovery Manager will now take place. Key callouts are:
Metadata and Text are indexed and searchable.
Users can create and run saved searches specific to this new grid.
Field profiles will be specific to this grid, and will be adjustable in the same way you are used to in review.
An additional option exists within the Processed files grid to promote docs to ECA.
All docs that have been promoted to ECA will be accessible from the new ECA tab.
Similar filtering, saved search, and field profile options exist on this grid as well.
In the near future, users will also be able to view a copy of the document text in our existing side by side viewer as well from within this grid.
All jobs are also now tracked on both a project and instance level for processing jobs. The in project jobs are located within a new Processing > Jobs tab. For Instance- and Company-level view, you can visit the processing overview page via our instance context switcher.
Processing Settings Management
A subset of Processing Project settings has been moved to the web.
Additionally we now have processing templates added to the web.
All existing templates will by default not be assigned to a company.
In order to add a new template, visit the Processing Instance overview page and navigate to the Global Templates tab.
These templates are available to apply to a project when using the Create Project feature from the web.
We performed user and internal stakeholder feedback sessions on our list of settings in order to support at least 95% of use cases. We are always happy to hear feedback about the list of exposed settings in case we deprecated something critical to end users of processing.
Improvements to Field Profile Management
The "Customize Field View" modal is now called "Personalize Selected Profile." Here, users can make changes to fields that they see on the grid, and also change the order of the fields present in their view. Changes in this area will only impact the current user's profile, and no other user.
Personalized field profiles will have a "Personalized" suffix in parentheses. To return to base layout / settings, users can click the "Clear Personalization" button in this modal.
At the Admin level, the "Manage Field Profile" modal functionally remains the same. Admins can create a modify base field profiles that impact all users. Admins can also choose to "push" the update to all users, which forcibly clears a user's personalization of that same field profile.
The "Overwrite Existing Profiles" checkbox has been moved to the top of the modal so it is easier to see.
Release Details Table
Outlines additional features, updates, and fixes.
Type | Category | Description |
---|---|---|
New | AI Review Enhancers | Added a downloadable error report for Image Label jobs in addition to reporting errors in the grid. The error report gives users detailed information to determine which documents errored, whether or not the error is fatal, and if resubmitting the item as a new job would yield different results. |
New | AI Review Enhancers | Created a new area to monitor cloud AI statistics for the MSA by clicking "Stats" in the Home button. Users can see their Cloud AI consumption for Image Labeling, Transcription, and Translation jobs using a dropdown menu. Data is presented in an area graph and can be configured by date range and scope of reporting (which projects users would like a report on, as opposed to the default Total MSA Numbers). Though not currently available, a future update will allow users to see their total Cloud AI allotment and how much they consumed against that allotment. |
New | AI Review Enhancers | Added a new column in the AV Transcription table that displays the total number of minutes elapsed for each transcription job. |
New | Document Review | Improved Sample Documents by adding two new fields: "Count" and "Margin of Error." Also, removed decimal rounding when entering percent values, so users can assign documents, input confidence levels, and note margin of error for #.#% of their documents. |
New | Document Review* | Permitted users to redact an image, chart, or cell in Spreadsheet View after documents have been flattened through Blackout. Users can click on the redact button, choose a redaction profile and label, and create the redactions on the image, chart, or cell. |
New | Document Review* | Added a redaction history tab in Document Explorer that allows users to see:
|
New | Document Review* | Provided users the ability to download and print a document with redactions included by selecting "include redactions" in the Print modal. The Print modal will now also display an error message if the printing could not be completed, and give users the option to retry or cancel. |
New | Document Review* | Provided users with the ability to partially redact cells or cell comments in a CSV file via a new button available in the Syncfusion toolbar. Partially redacted cells are underlined in red for easy visibility. |
New | Document Review* | Provides the user with the ability to choose which redactions appear on documents sent for printing. When using Syncfusion's Print function, shown vs. hidden redactions will now be reflected in the printed document. |
New | Processing | Changed the functionality around the TV File ID field to allow for searching multiple IDs in a single query. This presents as an ID box where a user can paste a list of IDs to search, which was previously limited to only an Equals or Contains search. |
New | Production & Export | Added the ability to use numbering generated from a prior PDF production, just as users could with prior image-based productions. Numbering is available for reuse after the documents are process and then loaded back into the platform as part of a database update job. |
New | Production & Export | Added a new option in PDF productions that allows the reuse of number stamping from prior PDF production jobs. |
New | Production & Export* | Provided a link in Reveal to install "Download Manager," which lets users download archival batches as .zip files. This link is available in the Jobs, Project Admin, and Company Admin tabs. |
New | Production & Export* | Renamed the "Download" icon in the Jobs, Company Admin, and Project Admin Archives tables to "Access Token" and changed the icon to a key. Pressing a key will also show a tooltip that reads "Text Copied to Clipboard." |
New | Production & Export* | Added a Linux option to install Download Manager in the "About Archives" modal. |
New | Project Administration | Created a new "Document View" tab under Data Management that allows Admins to view text set details, which display the following information:
Admins can also edit or delete text sets from this pane. |
New | Project Administration | Allowed the ability for Company or Instance Admins to delete a project in Reveal's web UI (in addition to Discovery Manager) via a trash icon. Users will need to delete the project from within the company that is associated with the project. This action deletes a project completely; users should not expect to be able to restore a project post-deletion. A popup window, along with a field to type the word "Delete," ensure this action is only performed deliberately. |
New | Project Administration | Created a new column for the Instance Management and Company Users Management grids titled "Last Signed In," which displays the last accessed date and time a user was online. This data is also available within individual user areas. |
New | Searching and Filtering | Improved the Document Number Field searching to include alphanumeric data that, prior to this update, was only searchable via direct match. Also, added more query operators to Document Number Field searching. In addition to Equals, Contains, Has Any Value, and Has No Value, users can search for a Range, Greater Than, Greater Than or Equal To, Less Than, and Less Than or Equal To. |
New | Searching and Filtering | Added a new checkbox on the Search Profile modal that says "Include Body Text." Checking this box allows users to search the body text of the documents as well as the metadata during an Advanced Search. So, if the term exists in the document text but not the selected fields in the profile, the document should return as it matched text in the document. |
New | Settings | Made significant UI changes to streamline Field Profile administration. "Customize Field View" modal is now called "Personalize Selected Profile." Here, users can make changes to fields that they see on the grid, and also change the order of the fields present in their view. Changes in this area will only impact the current user's profile, and no other user. After changes are made, the personalized field profile will have a "Personalized" suffix in parentheses. Lastly, the "Overwrite Existing Profiles" checkbox has been moved to the top of the modal so it is easier to see. |
Update | AI Review Enhancers | Switched the OCR engine from Tesseract to Nuance/OmniPage for a quicker, more robust, and more accurate OCR process. |
Update | Company Administration | Moved the legacy Company Admin area to a new page. Users attempting to reach the old page can redirect to the new page via button. |
Update | Data Visualization | Improved UI for the Update modal for more intuitive scrolling, and increased width to accommodate longer tag names so text is not cut off. |
Update | Document Review* | Provided users with a toolbar in Spreadsheet View that mirrors the PDF view toolbar with "redact," "print," and "download" actions. |
Update | Project Administration | Removed the legacy Artificial Intelligence tab in Project Admin > Settings. |
Update | Project Administration | Switched the file indexing service from Hyland to Aspose, which provides the ability to convert HEIC to PDF. |
Update | Review Management | Configured the Document Number Field to sync across profiles which contain that field. Now, changing the Document Number Field status to "Yes" or "No" in one profile will reflect the same changed status across all other profiles. |
Update | Supervised Learning | Incorporated a new RAI API endpoint for AI Tag Sync, changing primarily from List<int> to List<long> for its data model. This provides better compatibility, improves scalability, and ensures seamless tag synchronization for new and existing classifiers. |
Update | Supervised Learning | Improved two RAI APIs for AI Batching, which now accept and return Item IDs instead of AI Document IDs, improving compatibility and consistency across the platform. A new Boolean parameter, isExternalId has also been introduced and must be set to true for the APIs to function correctly. |
Update | User Interface | Added a responsive "loading" UI when exporting CSVs within a modal, which pops up to indicate an export is in progress. |
Fix | AI Review Enhancers | Fixed a bug where the AI Review Panel would only display the most recent run, even if a user selected an older run from the dropdown menu. |
Fix | AI Review Enhancers | Enhanced Aspose.Imaging for large excel files to better handle error cases related to memory constraints. |
Fix | Company Administration | Reformatted Project Template sort order from ID to alphabetical in the Create Project modal dropdown to make selection quicker and more intuitive. |
Fix | Company Administration | Addressed an issue during new project creation where the "Client" field dropdown does not allow selection. This would prevent users from completing the project creation process. |
Fix | Company Administration | Resolved a bug so that, for an Ethical Firewall feature flag enabled company, when a user is creates or edits a project from company page, the Ethical firewall tab will be enabled / displayed by default. |
Fix | Data Visualization | Resolved an issue in the Manage Field Profile modal so that, when the "Change everyone's grid view to these settings" checkbox is unchecked, field profiles can be displayed and organized on an individual profile basis. |
Fix | Data Visualization | Fixed a bug where, after performing a document deletion job, the Candy Bar UI and search results would continue to display the old documents as if the deletion didn't occur. |
Fix | Data Visualization | Fixed an issue so that, when Grid fields are changed, their changes take effect once the "Update" button is selected; users no longer need to refresh the web browser for changes to apply. |
Fix | Document Review | Resolved an issue so that Default User Settings / Default Text Sets / Display Order impacts document view, and adjusting the order of text sets in user settings will now control the order in the dropdown of the document viewer. |
Fix | Document Review | Fixed a bug where, if the latest assignment job is an Unassigned job and the tag profile is null, the Reviewed section can't be completed and all documents in the Assignment folder show as Unreviewed even though they have been reviewed. |
Fix | Document Review | Resolved an issue so that Spreadsheet view now displays the expected "Native View (Spreadsheet)" by default, rather than an empty page. |
Fix | Document Review | Resolved an issue in the Document Review pane where tag choices wouldn't load or save to SQL despite appearing to save in Elastic — moving to the next document in queue then returning to the previous one would remove tag choices from the UI. |
Fix | Document Review | Fixed SyncFusion to allow conversion of Excel comments into JSON, which are now displayable in the SyncFusion viewer. |
Fix | Document Review | Resolved an issue where Excel files were unable to be previewed in the spreadsheet viewer after indexing. |
Fix | Production & Export | Fixed the Download Manager URL link in the "About Archives" modal. |
Fix | Production & Export | Fixed a Production Exports issue where exported PDFs did not follow the correct naming convention if the user opted for the file name to begin with production number and end with document title. |
Fix | Production & Export | Fixed Production Export issues where users would receive failures when performing a job with a PDF source. |
Fix | Production & Export | Resolved an issue where using a PDF set as a source wouldn't maintain existing stamping from prior production jobs. The system now carries forward stamped PDFs when used as a source in a new production. |
Fix | Project Administration | Fixed an issue where the preview modal did not correctly display the last data column because there was a space after the delimiter. |
Fix | Project Administration | Resolved a Field Mapping issue where entries would disappear when switching from Create to Edit Mapping. |
Fix | Project Administration | Changed the field title "Reveal Text File Size" in project admin to "Text File Size (Bytes)" to improve clarity. |
Fix | Project Administration | Fixed an issue where, even though an Upload Job shows successful completion and an Index Job is created, the Index Job is not visible in the Index Job page. The system also displays "No Errors" instead of "Download Log" and "Download Errored Log," and the records from the CSV aren't added to the grid and are not visible to the user. |
Fix | Project Administration | Resolved an issue so that a user can now create a project where the client and/or company contain a slash or other allowed special characters. |
Fix | Project Administration | Fixed an issue where Index Job would not create after an Upload Job completes. |
Fix | Project Administration | Resolved an issue where an exception occurred during the indexing process when documents without pre-generated PDFs were included. Although this error did not appear to terminate the production job, it indicated incorrect behavior in the logs and resulted in all affected documents timing out during indexing. The system will now handle documents without pre-generated PDFs more gracefully during indexing, without triggering exceptions or unnecessary timeouts. |
Fix | Project Administration | Fixed an issue during Field Profile creation where, despite limiting permissions to select teams, permissions would be auto-assigned to other teams that were not originally selected. |
Fix | Review Management | Fixed an issue so that POST v2/{caseId}/fields return a field ID in response, rather than always returning a 0. |
Fix | Searching and Filtering | Fixed an issue so that, for Advanced Searches containing AND and OR connectors, the system defaults to AND upon creating a new connector. |
Fix | Searching and Filtering | Resolved a Field Profile search issue where the displayed items of total items range (e.g., 32 of 476) did not display. |
Fix | Searching and Filtering | Fixed an issue where expected facet values did not display when a user attempted to filter searches within the facet selector, even when entering the exact facet name. |
Fix | Searching and Filtering | Resolved search issues so that search profiles and term lists can be combined in a search query and, when the term list count previews run in that modal, those counts are reflective of the search profile selected behind the modal with all current business logic on how search profiles function. |
Fix | User Interface | Made several accessibility improvements to Reveal's UI. |
Fix | User Interface | Fixed the "Save Existing" button in the Uploads modal so it changes from blue > grey > blue, indicating a successful save. |
