Mapping Load File Fields to Logikcull

Prev Next

This article provides extra resources about field types and field mapping, which is performed in Step III of the Production Uploads popup. See Production Uploads for instructions on filling out the popup and navigating the UI.

Minimum load file requirements

Logikcull has minimum file field requirements in order to successfully validate a set of load files. The below fields are recommended for load file validation:

Field(s)

Reason

Begin Doc/Begin Bates

Beginning bates or document identifier number for each record.

Begin Family + End Family or Begin Attachment + End Attachment

Needed if linking families (i.e. emails and their associated attachments). The family fields cannot be overlaid, so we recommend requesting these in the original load file.

File Name

File name that includes the file extension (i.e. document.msg).

Native File Link

Needed if importing native records.

Text File Link

Needed if importing OCR text/text files.

Time fields

If you have a time field in your load file, a corresponding date field is required. For example, for "File Time Created" to be mapped, there must be a corresponding field available for "File Date Created".

Custodian field

Lists who is associated with with the document. The custodian field cannot be overlaid so we recommend requesting this field in the original load file.

Note on Family ID and Parent ID fields

If Logikcull returns an error after you’ve mapped your fields and the message references Family ID or Parent ID, follow these steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Check your Begin Family and End Family mappings.

    • Ensure these fields are correctly mapped to the appropriate values in your load file.

  2. Review Family ID and Parent ID mappings. If Begin Family and End Family are mapped correctly, verify whether Family ID or Parent ID are also mapped.

    • In most standard production imports, these fields do not need to be mapped because Begin Family and End Family already define the family relationships.

    • Try unmapping Family ID and/or Parent ID and reattempt the upload.

  3. Check for unsupported characters.

    • If the error persists, review your Family ID or Parent ID values for any non-supported characters (such as special symbols or inconsistent formats). Removing or cleaning these values before import can often resolve the issue.

Note on the Thread ID field

Thread ID mapping in an eDiscovery load file is the process of tagging related messages with the same identifier so entire conversations stay grouped during review.

This ensures email reply chains and mobile messages (like those from RSMF files) are displayed together in the correct order, giving reviewers full context instead of isolated messages. It also speeds up review, reduces confusion, and makes conversations easier to understand.

Be sure to map the correct Thread ID field. Some load files include multiple, similarly named fields and using the wrong one can break conversation grouping. If you’re unsure, contact support@revealdata.com.
